I'm on the road
Finally, after a very long time of figuring out and fixing things on my1966 Shovel it is on the road legally. Now the real test begins as to what else needs attention. I took it out yesterday for a road test and she seemed like she is in decent shape I probably did about 25 miles.
My first mistake out was not having a rear-view mirror. I quickly turned around and put the mirrors on, Way too dangerous without them. I'll say it was a long time to get here but I think it was worth it. Now the fun begins. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...0bf8d050c5.jpg |

Thank you, Sir,

Funny how these bikes look amazing with paint worn off and weathered. That thing is awesome. Congrats getting it on the road.

Congratulations, makes all the BS worth it when you finally get an event free ride. Keep putting miles on her, she will tell you what else needs to be addressed. It takes a minute to work out all the gremlins, but it is worth it.

Looks great, enjoy!

Thank you, Gentlemen, for the kind words. Found my first gremlin. No start when I hit the button, Lucky I rode a magneto Sportster in my long distant past ... It taught me how to use a kick starter. LOL

The button operates a relay under the battery box
go look see if its clicking if not check power in and see if its powering out to the solenoid on the top of the inner primary the small wire and the top terminal is starter engagement on the sol on the primary |
Congratulation getting the Shovelhead back on the road.

I like the looks of that style cam cover on the older engines.
