Its kickstart only.only starts with the enrichner up and a couple pumps. when it doesnt start,it kicks back and coughs out carb,but if i dont pump it ,it doest kickback.when it is running it runs rough.when i close the enrichner it sputter and pops and doent want to idle. s&s super E. main is 68,inter 285. points ignition. thanks for any advice

 

Go .295 & 70 or 72 main if you have a cam And it sounds like an intake leak . Check the point gap and back of the timing just a hair

 

Check your advance mechanism ...sounds like your weights are sticking...may just need to be cleaned and lubed or may need some new springs

 

Very good tip , even if that isn't the problem chances are the advance is shot anyway , 9 out of 10 bike I see need it replaced no kidding .

 

Well i think i got her figured out.the intake had a bad leak.it still needs a lil tuning but it will idle now.thanks for all the advice.the weights open fine on the advance.

 

The weights may be opening fine but if the post holes are worn and the springs are weak the amount of advance and when the advance kicks in will not be right. Remove and inspect the weights and springs. Also check to see if the weights have been hitting the inside of the cam cover. Replace if necessary and lube the posts. I'm just sayin'.
