1975 Paint Formula Needed - Help the new guy...!

Hello guys. I am new to the forum. I am in the process of restoring a '75 FL. I wish to paint it back to the original color of Starburst Blue. I have looked everywhere and have had no luck finding paint or a paint formula to duplicate this paint. Even called HD archives with no success.

Does anyone out there have a source for original paint? I cannot even get a paint chip. Seems odd, if I were restoring a Honda or Kawasaki, finding paint would be a click away. Why is it so hard to find original HD paint?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you much!

Bob

Couple of sources you can start with. www.antiquecyclesupply.com. The show a sunburst blue. And you can also get a pint chip and paint from them. Not sure how big the sample is. Second is www.colorwrite.web.com. They do not show the color listed under the 75 models or special colors but they may be worth calling as well.

bubba455 - Did you get the paint code that you need? If not, let me know, I have a couple of possible sources.

Sunburst blue

Hi all,

I'm looking for paint formula for 1975 FLH, all searches and tips checked but seems to be impossible to find. Do someone is there some new color so close to original Sunburst blue that knowone knows or whereI could get correct mix?

Your help would be highly appreciated, and big thanks in advance.

thanks

Yes, I know this guy (and propably not the cheapest, but good is not cheap I guess..).

I would like go to local paint store (in europe) and just order close enough formula, instead of order sample piece what could be then scanned for correct mixing.

Is it true that I can not get "correct" formula otherwise??

Not sure if this would be any help but try this guy. http://www.jwboon.com He is located in the Netherlands and deals with OEM/NOS obselete parts. Perhaps he can direct you to a correct source on your side of the pond.,

no help...

unfortunately couldn't help; no interest to paints as they can not be shipped in regular mail.

I think that somebody has used this color and know the correct formula?
