Default throttle

Getting close to finishing a rebuilt on my 68 flh. I'm installing a s&s "e" but i'm wanting to keep stock bars and switches. I can live with the out side cable, but was wondering if they make a grip that will fit the bars? I'm hoping someone might havebeen through this. THANKS

I modified the carb to allow the original cable to work.

Get a left side spark control (Ted's V-Twin has them) and use it on the right side, it reverses the direction the cable moves. I did this on my '66 when I put a Bendix on it.

You can use most of the origional internal throttle set up. I've done this on my 69FLH and 72FX. Make sure the throttle sleeve in the handlebar is the one that pulls the cable not pushing it. Instead of the origional solid cable, I used a rear brake cable for a bicycle (only about $3.50 ).With a little filing on the barrel end of the cable it'll fit in the linkage on the S&S E.

I can't take credit for this setup, I learned itfrom Steve aka Hawg on Hawg Ryder HD tech forum.
