Default Starting problem

Hi all,

When I hit the starter button, the motor cranks for a second or two and then it spins. Trying it again (and again), the problem repeats. Any suggestions?

Removed the starter and pulled out the pinion gear and shaft assembly to check if it's worn-out. At first sight the pinion shaft and bendix don't show excessive wear. I've added some photo's. Do you agree?

grtz. Martin

change the starter gear(bendix) -- also i use NOTHING but the ALLBALLS starters.. they spin the engine like an air starter.. also you can remove these without removing the inner primary.. the end piece bolts to the primary and the starter has 2 long bolts that you remove from the kick cover side to remove the starter-- the run around $200.. ya have to make sure what original starter you have.. prestolite or hatachi..

Bendix is going , just change it and don't do the cheap ones or you'll be doing again next year .
