S&S B carb adjustments
I have a 1983 FLHT, fresh top ended at basic stock specs, only difference is an upgraded cam from stock to mild Andrews J grind. It runs good however it seems to be running way rich. I have tweaked and tweaked but have yet to really hit the sweet spot. I should have prefaced I am not a carb guy at all, just basic knowledge so I was actually hoping that maybe one of y'all may have a late model shovel with this B series carb and have some advice for me as far as adjustments, etc.
I do use a higher octane gas, no additives or garbage like that......bike is basically stock setup with the small street cam and the B carb. I don't figure it to be too difficult, but to a guy like me it isn't my strong suit......I'm a painter, not a tech
Thanks in advance

also the "B" or even the "E" carb when you first start the bike you need to turn the A/F screw out an extra 1/2 a turn till it warms up... i attached a piece of 1/4" hose to my screw so i can do just that.. its a carb not FI.. the A/F screw should be 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 turns out to start till you find the "sweet spot" best tuning of this is done when it fully warmed up..

How old is the "B" ? those had a tendency to wear throttle shafts and leak air around the butterfly making them a bit of bear to fine tune and have them stay there . Also the the bowl breather port on the left side as you look at them would gunk up a bit which made it act like the float was off sometimes . The intermediate jet in those mean more that the main for 80% of your normal riding should be .031 and again this depends on where you live higher altitude will drop it to a .0295 .
