Default gear play

i took my belt drive off today because every now and then ya have to clean and re-grease the rollers -- when i had everything out -- i noticed that if i put the bike in gear and grabbed the hub i could turn it back and forth like in feeling the shifter dogs -- it turns to the left till it comes in contact with i guess the shifter dog -- and then to the right till it hits like you can feel it make contact with the gear when you put the bike in gear -- is this normal?? it rides and shifts fine -- its like its takes the play out as you rotate the hub -- only in gear and all 4 gears -- <--->

Yeah there's some room in the slots on the gears for the dogs to rock & forth in , you can get a good 1/8 or more of the shaft rotation back & forth on some . As long as she isn't hard going into or pops out of gear under load and no whining noises your good on a 4 speed . Takes some to screw one up as long as you keep oil in it .
