Congrats on your first Harley. Everyone here knows Harley stopped making motorcycles in 1984. Low riders were great bikes, stock 2 over front ends, Kick and electric, more chrome than the FXE and much lighter than the FLH.

Today I cleaned her up. The bike is very difficult to start and runs bad. Headed out this week for vacation, but I will dig into it when I get back. Just won a HD Service Manual on eBay.

So next week I plan to remove and flush the tank. Has not been run much the past few years, so likely need a carb (S&S) rebuild / cleaning. Also must perform a compression test and confirm good spark.

When running, the rear pipe actually turned red. Took a closer look and found the rear pipe loose and exhaust gasket blown out. Sure I will find more once I start pulling her apart. Eventually I must address the exhaust, as the drag pipes are way too loud for me … guess I’m getting old.

Removed my tank tonight and washed it out. Looks real good inside with no rust.

Also scored a stock 2 into 1 exhaust system for my bike, and would now like to find the correct muffler support tube … Part # 65760-77a

I’ve been watching eBay, but no luck. I am aware that this may be a difficult piece to locate. Any chance one of you might have one to sell?

Great bike, good luck with her. Always dug the black w/red pinstripes.

based on that last picture, now's the time to pull the rocker box tops and polish 'em up. Yank the heads and get some new gaskets under all. I think I have pics in my garage of mine last years when I got her...the heads were super ugly...got a decent polish on 'em with a few hours of elbow grease.
