I would like to know if anybody could help me find a 7" headlight assembly that will bolt right up to my 80 Wide Glide. I have been shopping around and can only find 6 1/2" that will fit. I have seen some 7' that will fit 1986-2011 Heritage, Fatboy, & Softtail looks like same mount but I am worried about the clearance tilting up to adjust.

 

I just did that exact same swap on my 84 wide glide. Softail headlight bolts right up.

 

If it doesn't fit you can get an extender that moves it out towards the tire a little to get the tilt angle.

 

You can also use the original or replicas of the 1949 to 1959 headlight and mounting bracket. Looks similar to the late model. The bracket mounts to the front of the lower fork. You may have to drill and tap one hole.

 

I want to thank you guys for your feedback. I ordered the 7" Headlight Housing for 1986-2011 Heritage, Fatboy, & Softtail. It fits all those bikes and hopefully it will fix my 1980 Wide Glide I'll let ya know.

 

sorry i did not see this before you ordered the housing - two different housings were made by harley - the original was the 1965 and it ran all the way to 1984 and that is the one that fits your app - as the FLST unit is narrower than the original FLH in the fork area

you have 80 wide glide and your lower tree will not work as well as it has no mount bolt holes and its also round not flat like the FLH requires - you will need to buy a FLH lower tree as well

dont open what you bought and send it back ( it does not fit )once you open it its yours - do you need 2 of them and only one fits your choice

I bought my headlight from a guy on ebay. It was supposedly from a 90-something Fatboy. This dude bolted right up to my 84 wide glide.
