Default 2016 FLHTCU Leaky Rocker Box

This seepage started a couple weeks ago. 16k miles. It is the right rear corner of the rear cylinder. Not an actual "leak" yet but I'm sure it will get worse.

Anyone else with a Rushmore have to replace rocker box gaskets already?

Not in 11K. I hadn't seen any leakage and dealer just did the 10K a couple weeks ago. They didn't say anything like they did when they changed out my shifter shaft at 7500 without any input from me to do so.

Have you checked the torque on the bolts?
My 08 started weeping and the bolts loosened up a bit, after torque check all was well.

After doing some light bucket work for a couple of days, i went over the bucket and wheel torques.

A few needed a few pounds added.

I agree with Timbo, first thing is I would have the dealer recheck the torque.

You didn't expect this thing to be dirty did you? I own a Harley.

I'm gonna order a couple of new gaskets. I have found quite a few reports of leaky rocker boxes, but not on Rushmores. Once I have new gaskets in hand, I'll pull the boxes off and see if the torque is the problem. Gaskets are cheap.

It isn't really a full-blown leak, yet, but a drop will develop if I don't daub it off every day.

Since you're still under warranty, why not let the dealer handle it?

I don't trust my dealer shop, period. I think they will give it to their junior man, and he may screw it up. I like to do my own work wherever I can. I'll take four hours to do what Junior would slop-job in 30 minutes, and my work will be surgical clean with proper torque.

Besides, it is a very tiny "leak" it seeps out a drop every couple hundred miles. It will surely get worse, but for now you have to look close to see it.

My '14 leaked from the rear rocker box at 15k miles. Dealer replaced gasket under warranty. Since day 1, my '14 has leaked more and had way more blow by than my '05 that is approaching 60k miles.
