I think it will do exactly what HD wants it to do. Bring NEW people in. The younger crowd want bikes like that. I'm 33 and I know plenty of people in my age group that much rather a more "modern" look of a RK. Most of the "older" riders want all the chrome, classic Harley.

I remember them.days. I was riding a Kawasaki KZ650. My buddy had the 1100. I was 17 when I bought my first Harley. 1984.

I have always been a RK fan, to me it has King in the name and is based on the bikes the King of Rock and Roll rode. My RK is named Elvis, they are supposed to be over the top in chrome, have passing lamps and a windshield. This is not a Road King the MoCo gave it the wrong name. It should be named the Street King or something after Michael Jackson.

I remember my dad looking at that and a Seca 750, he got the Seca since it was a few dollars less. But man that was a ugly bike that could move.

In regards to the new special, I can agree with both points of view. I think it is just going to come down to personal preference and someone having something nobody else more or less has. However, that M8 107 should get it on down the road nicely.

I'm a huge RK fan and almost bought a used CVO RK instead of my SGS. I rode a RK for 10 years and never wanted a fairing. Just thought I'd try something different. Love the SGS too.
I've had chrome ****** and spent way too much outfitting past Harley's. This time I decided to black out my bike to keep it simple. I disassembled a good portion of the bike last winter and took 65 pieces to get powder coated gloss black. Total cost, $310 plus gaskets and my labor. Love the look and the simplicity.
If someone is looking for a blacked out bike, the RKS will fit their needs out of the box without having to change anything. Of course it suffers the same fate as the CVO bikes - they all look the same. But if I were buying a new Touring bike today, it would probably be the RKS. Install some pipes, handlebars, and a windshield and go.
