So, I'm looking real hard at an 08 Heritage Softail Classic 105th Anniversary to replaced my crashed Ultra.
I've read many posts here about the TC motors regarding cam chains, oil pumps etc. I am under the impression that these issues were prior to 08.
Can anyone tell me what I should be concerned with on this bike? It has 25,000 miles on it, oil, trans fluid and primary is clean. I know that doesn't mean any thing (could be fresh change) but, I checked it any way.
It is offered at what I think is a decent price, $7,000.
sounds like a solid price...I think you're right...08 an up have the hydro cam chain tensioners. If not you can try to get a few hundred off saying you have to replace them to be safe then you'll be good for another 25K
Yes on the hydraulics.
Biggest issue I remember hearing about on '08s was loose spokes which was pretty much across the board on '08s.
Was already planning on replacing the front wheel or having it re-laced. A few of the spokes are rusty. Is the issue with loose spokes on both front and back? Can they just be adjusted or have to be replaced. I've never laced a wheel so, I would probably have to farm this out.
IIRC, the issue was both front and back and some would adjust and stay, others wouldn't.
It was a pretty big issue in here for a while. I haven't seen any threads on it in a few years.
