How much are the gloves and insoles? This system is AC single ( 2 separate phases..so really 2 in my head since AC doubles but it is called single) phase around 40 + volts AC. The winding are huge but there are three small connector wires that look to me to be safety shunts just in case someone take them to ground. Low voltage AC is actually dangerous since it can fib your heart.

It actually looks like something took it to ground or it got very hot.

The bike is an Evo. How old? Chalk it up to old age IMO.
Okay good, I didn't want to go back down to the old 55w light again.

It's a '97 Fatboy. Bought it last year with only 28k miles on it and I've got it up to 37k now. That does seem about right for a stator going bad from what I've read.

Insulation wore down. 3 phase or single doesn't matter for this discussion. They went 3 phase around 05.

I got 70k on one 50 on my other. Mileage wad low for you, but age high. Bad luck, elves, global warming.

Gloves are HD brand. 22w, 1.7amps
Insoles are Gerbings. 15w, 1.2amps

Also have a phone charger hooked up to my tender plug. Outputs 2.1amps.

If you are bored DC clamp on amp meters have come down in price. But problem is charging system is low at idle.

As long as you ride bike to keep it charged, you will be fine. Short trips are the problem.

Update: Got the new stator bolted on, fed the plug through.

I didn't notice this when I took it off (chalk it up to ignorance and not yet knowing what I was looking at), but there's a dent in the frontside of the rotor--like someone hit it with a chisel or something.

The rearside looks totally fine, but should I be concerned about this? Do I need to replace it?

I had the same on mine. I assumed it was to balance the rotor.

That's what I was wondering. It looks pretty deliberate.
