Default What Trans fluid is everyone using on the m8

Getting ready to do my 1k service and wondering what Trans fluid everyone is using. Looked thru manual and we all know what was recommended there. I used to use Redline Shockproof Heavy, but can not find any specific specs on what I can and can't use on the new Harley's Trans. Using Formula+ on the Primary and Mobil1 in the crankcase..

I probably should have ignored the post. It's like blondes, brunettes etc. or windshields. My bike will get Spectro Platinum Six Speed gear lube. My opinion if tranny oil doesn't stink when you drain it something is wrong with it. Harley's old Semi Synth always smelled of sulfur, and I never had a problem when I used it. Spectro is expensive but so are tranny problems. Formula plus doesn't stink, so I use it in my primaries. Syn 3 is engine oil. Transmissions have different needs than engines so Spectro for me.

I ran Red Line in my last bike, This bike has Formula Plus and works fine. Just going to leave it that way.

Ashnic, it really shouldn't be a problem asking general questions. It's a new bike and you went through a lot of issues with your first one.

I had my dealer do the 1K on my 17 CVO Street Glide. They put in what they put in.

My personal preference on my other bikes 14 SGS, 16 SGS is Spectro Platinum HD 6-Speed Transmission Oil SAE 75w140. It's what I plan to use here out (I only have the dealer do my first).

I have yet to have a transmission it hasn't quieted down or made shift smoother.

Spectro Platinum Six Speed gear lube. Mainly because I like the company. And it is RED so if you have a leak someday it a little easier to figure out. Keep in mind not much difference in 75w140 and 20/50 engine oil. They use different methods to measure them . It the same was used they would come out close.

I think there is plenty of Viscosity difference in Bel-Ray Hypoid 85W140 Gear Lube compared to a 20W50 Syn Oil... surprisingly that is what the Dealer recommended to put in my current bike at the 1000 Service... That is all I used in my last 3 Big Twin bikes, tranny's hardly made any noise in 2-5 or 2-6 till they hit around 4000 miles... But that's just me.
