Default Overfilled Primary

Just did my first primary fluid change. Poured in a whole quart without thinking so it's 6oz over the manual specs. Drain into a clean bowl and measure out the 26? I expected to be able to see the fluid better in the case. 2003 low rider.

that's how much I put in my FXDB (32oz), I wouldn't think the two models would have that much diff in quantity?

^ Agreed, I believe it calls for 1QT (32oz) in the primary. I just put 1QT in my '07 FXDB yesterday.

03 manual calls for 26. The 32oz looks like a good amount to me but I'm new at this.

You're good with the 26 ozs. in the primary. For an oil change I put in 2.5 qts., little bit of oil in the filter, lube the rubber gasket on the filter, put it on, fire up the bike. Let it run for a few minutes, then check the oil level on the jiffy stand and put the oil at 1/4" below the full mark. Transmission is 20-24 ozs., I put in 22 ozs. and call it good. By the way this good for my 2002 and 2005 Dynas. Hope this helps.

Put the kickstand on a 2x4 or something that will keep it straight up. Put a catch pan under the derby cover, and pull the derby, whatever comes out is excess, messy but effective.

If you can't stand the idea of oil on everything, leave it on the kick stand without the 2x4 and use the pump part of an old soft soap dispenser to pump out what you think is excess.

I'm with the others on 32oz, you might just not have drained it properly before adding in what you did. The primary really only drains properly if the bike is vertical.

Thanks guys. Love this forum. An old syringe and some aquarium tubing made light work of pulling the extra out.
