Default What do you do with your old helmets?

They say you should replace your helmets every 3-5 years. With myself, my wife, and my daughter, along with having both 1/2 and full face helmets for different weather conditions, I have built up quite the collection over the years.

what do you guys do with your old helmets? Do you through them out?

I have a new one coming today & I want to keep 1 back up of each style, and am planning on getting rid of the rest.

Have heard of individuals donating them to the Fire Service for drill purposes for them to practice removing them from injured motorcyclists.

I just tossed three in the garbage a few weeks back.

I (we) still have a pair of the white "police style" 1/2 shells that we bought in '07 for a trip out west. They haven't been out of the boxes since.

I still have an old FF that I bought for my AK trip in 2000 that I use these days when plowing snow with my tractor (I look like a dork but it sure keeps my warm and dry). I may toss it this week as I (we) still have two, nearly new snowmobile helmets and no snowmobiles!

With Bicycle Helmets, they say after a crash you should destroy the helmet before putting it in the trash to prevent someone from digging it out and wearing it.
I would think the same should apply to motorcycle helmets.
