Default Black stator - oil discoloration or fried?

Is it typical for a the stator to turn black from the primary oil? Pulled the primary part to replace the compensator and found a black stator. Bike runs and charges fine. Just trying to confirm if this is normal. Doesn't look damaged at all, just black.

I would think that if it is fried the insulation on the wiring will be burnt ... mine was. You may also be able to smell something. Did you ever see any smoke coming from the primary when opened?

I think you're OK to go here; interesting how it discolored but if you nick a stator, that stench is unforgettable

I am getting a higher resistance reading than specified in the service manual. Should be 0.1-0.2 I'm at 0.5. Not sure if what exactly that means....

It doesn't look discolored from oil, appears to come black.

Stator might be in the early stage of going bad, its turning into a toaster.

This; listen to Mike. You're right there, change out the stator, that reading is the canary in the coal mine...
