I have had both and I kept the Street Glide. I just couldn't deal with the immovable fairing.

I had to rent both of them before I made up my mind. Did a couple of shortish dealer test rides on both of them... still didn't know for sure. Rented both and did a couple of hundred miles on each one, finally made my decision for me.

I could tell you about a lot of pros and cons of each one - for me.

For you - all I can do is suggest spending some time on each one before you drop the coin. They're both really great bikes. One or the other is perfect for you.

I went to buy a Street Glide but before I did the salesman recommended I rent both bikes for ½ day each. After riding both bikes, to me, the Road Glide was a superior ride. The fixed fairing is a non issue, I ride looking down the road not at the front tire and the bit about the headlight not turning...I lean into corners, I don't turn the bars so again a non issue. The Road Glide is so much more roomy, stable on the freeway and I didn't feel claustrophobic with the windshield in my face as I did with the Street Glide.

The Road Glide will offer the more comfortable suspension. Ride both and decide.

Never rode a RoadGlide had a 89 soft tail then a 95 Ultra then no bike for years bought a 15LTD..... Laughlin River Run rode a 17 RoadGlide Ultra and fell in love have authorization from the CEO to get one but the practical side says I have a awesome bike save the money. At some point I will own one. Can't go wrong with either, Personal decision.

Well worth the money to rent one of each for a day. Put a couple hundred miles on each then decide. Both great bikes, but different.

Ultimately your decision. But....

Street Glide - Cons = Buffeting, buffeting, buffeting. Unoriginal. Over played. Pros = Easy resale.

Road Glide - Cons = Fugly. Pros = Better than a Street Glide (according to all the Road Glide owners)

<Easy everyone...all stated with tongue in cheek>

Both are great bikes. Test ride or rent them both, and make your decision.

What will you be using the bike for? Long distance touring or 1/2 day trips locally? Two up, or solo? Highway, or 2 lane?

Re: the fixed fairing of the Road Glide. For long distance touring, BMW, Honda, Kaw, Triumph, all have one thing in common. Fixed Fairing.

I think the RG is easier to handle at slow speeds & is a better ride at high speeds. It does have that annoying glare from the Infotainment screen when the sun is behind you, and if you use the the Infotainment buttons or touch screen, it can be a bit of a reach. I do think its easier to tuck in behind the SG's bat wing fairing for protection in the quick rain storms we get here in FL. And there is no glare from the Infotainment screen on the SG. Both come from the factory with a worthless wind screen.
