Default Cheapest way of resting over a long ride

I am goin to Austin Texas and it 1200 miles for me I was thinking of stopping a little over half way and resting a short time and sleeping and then finish the trip. I'm cheap so staying in a hotel seems expensive for 6-8 hours. I can take a tent or sleep on a park bench.

The cost of a hotel/motel is better than the alternative of riding tired.

You could do whatever you want ... Sleeping in a rest area is generally a "no no" ... but I use to get away with it by pulling a fuse for the headlight or tail light ... when the law showed up they generally let me slide.

Plan your ride to avoid big cities during the rush hours, and make your motel reservation accordingly. If you can find a good campground before your trip, bring your tent.
Don't cheap-out on a place to stay.
There was a thread here not long ago about a gentleman who was murdered while trying to prevent the theft of his Harley at a cheap motel.

1200 miles is a long distance to cover in 2 days and a lot of seat time. I know we all have different financial situations, but there are inexpensive places to stay for sure outside of big cities for well under $100 a night.....probably $60, depending on the day of the week, will get you in a decent place. It will be the best money you spend. Tired 2nd day riding is not fun. After riding 600 miles your "3-B's" will thank you....Back, Butt AND Brain.....
