Yes, you can imagine why this has been discussed in the Polaris Indian forums for several months. Sadly, they don't realize that it's the economy, not Indian, causing the less sales.

Hmm, I wonder why Polaris dropped the Victory line.

Yep it's the economy and also less motorcycle riders getting into the market. Also u.s. Auto Sales are down every month in the last four months over the same period a year ago.

The article is in keeping with what the sales manager at my local dealership told me. He said that HD shipments would be reduced by close to 8% for '17 over last year. Of course I'm sure some of that is saleman's speak.

Dropped the victory line to concentrate on the Indian was the reason given when it was first announced.

I don't trust Zack's or Yahoo.
There is just as good of an argument to BUY HOG now.

If I listened to "expert" advice on stocks to move on, I would be broke.

Unless you're day-trading, you should be focusing on the long game. Harley, as a company, isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

What economy are you talking about it? Have you spent 5 minutes looking at employment numbers? Did you see how many cars have sold in the past year? Investments and (actively invested) retirement accounts are bulging at the seams. People are again buying houses at the greatest pace since the bubble of 2009. The only thing that hasn't recovered is the breadth of middle-income wage earners, and that isn't going to change unless Trump pulls off some sort of magic jobs trick.

Bike sales are down for organic reasons mainly because there are so many HD out there already. It started with the 'funny money' years before the recession (with stratospheric bike sales), and ended with the massive project known as Rushmore. The biggest group of HD bike owners, baby boomers, are also slowing down their purchasing and probably even their riding. It also doesn't help that the most popular HD cost as much as a decent new car. And if HD is looking at younger demographics to sell bikes too then good luck with that because that group of young Americans owes an average of $50k each in student loans, which is not just unprecedented in U.S. history, but will most like prove to be hugely crippling to those people for many years to come.

Please, no more talk of the 'economy' being the scapegoat for whatever ails the motorcycle community.
