New rider which motorcycle
Hey guys, I'm about to get my license and purchase a bike. Ive been looking at a couple of bikes and I really like the breakout. Ive been told to go with something smaller but everyone also says after a few months you will want to go bigger so I figured just go big from the beginning. Will the breakout be too much for a beginner?

only yourself can answer what is too much or not too much. get your license,
then go to a few dealers and sit on what looks good to you. see if you can
test ride a few as well.
i started on a buell blast... for, maybe a month, then i got a 13 iron. wasn't too
much for me, even with it's crappy handling. i love that bike.

You should get some experience riding something before going too deeply in debt for your first motorcycle. Not everybody 'likes' riding a motorcycle. Especially in high traffic areas.
Even if you do 'like' riding, there are different types of motorcycles, good for different area/types of riding. One good point, it you buy a Breakout and then decide riding a motorcycle isn't your 'thing', Harley's have better resale value.

I'd pick up a used Honda 400 ish bike, and ride it for a few months. Spending a lot of time with practicing tight maneuvers, twistys, traffic, etc. Then sell it in a few months, and then get something bigger. But, I'd stay away from the big twin touring bikes for at least a year of regular riding.

I started on Honda CBR 600F4i that i promptly laid down coming into my driveway on the ride home from grabbing a handful of front brake. That was the last time I made that mistake.
I than bought my '14 48 in March of this year and am currently shopping for a Street Glide.
I agree on the advice of buy something smaller to begin with, and than figure out what kind of riding you want to do.

Go to a dealership and see which one looks good, that fits you the best and buy it. Another way is if a dealership has a demo day and test ride every bike that you like and choose it that way. After all, it's your choice and I can't and won't tell you which one to get because everybody has their own preference on which one feels and looks the best to them and that they can afford. Good luck.
