Default Change Brake Fluid Every 2 Years?

I received a letter from the MOCO yesterday telling me I have DOT4 brake fluid and it must be changed every 2 years. Ive had this 2013 Limited 4 years and 6 months and they are just now sending me this letter....WTF?

Because it takes about that long before the accidents start showing up in the statistics. And they know that most owners don't pay attention to their owner's manuals.

That same information is more than likely in your owners manual also.

Sort version.... there were some ABS failures that were reported to NHTSA. People blamed HD & ABS design, HD defended itself by saying failure is due to people failing to change brake fluid every two years as specified in the manual....

The letter is either part of a campaign to satisfy NHTSA or a preemptive strike to defend itself against NHTSA and/or any lawsuits.....

Local shop just quoted $200 to change front and rear fluid..... $125 if I purchase and have them install new tires at same time.

Just got my letter the other day. The question I have is do you have to cycle the abs as part of the maintenance because I'm quite capable of changing fluid myself but can't cycle the abs

I tried the Mityvac. Biggest POS I have ever seen. I did it the old fashion way in less time.
