Default 2017 tri glide excessive heat

Hello all im new here
i just purchased a new 2017 tri glide ultra. Went from a 2007 roadking classic .

I notice that there is a lot of heat coming off the right side of the motor. Is this normal .

Also im 6 ft and have a big fram is there a seat out there that will make so i sit back a little more so my nuts are not getting crushed on the gas tank

You may look around for a dealer that has some demo seats that they will let you try. As for the heat we make a product called a Crotch Cooler that will really help you with the heat from the rear cylinder and while sitting in traffic . Good luck ..

Thank you

most of the heat seems to be around my lower calf and ankle area. I've read I could get some floor board extenders that will help pull my legs out a little to help

The exhaust pipe slants down close to your right foot and leg. I feel the heat from my 2016. Sponsor DK Custom has foot board extenders for the touring machines.

Gonna have to shop around for a seat that fits you. Many dealerships have demo seats you can try out.

There are quite a few things you can do to get the heat down...both for you benefit and for the engine longevity. You can read a report on it HERE.

One of the first things you can do to get some relief for your right ankle and calf are the Floorboard Extensions that you can see HERE.

Not only will they get you away from the heat...they are quite a bit more comfortable in terms of giving you more room to move around.

I experienced the same heat issue on my right ankle, so I installed the DK Floorboard Extensions & they solved the problem for me. I don't even think about the heat anymore, and as you know, its been pretty hot here in FL lately.
Can't help you with the seat problem, as the OE seat works fine for me.

There is a whole list of things you will be hearing about to reduce the heat. I know coming from a 13 Ultra to my 16 Trike I really noticed the increase in heat coming off the right side. Floorboard extensions are in my future just haven't done them yet.

If I was home I would let you check out my tall boy seat. It got me back a little from the bars.

One thing to remember is that with the trunk and fenders a lot of the air flow is directed up instead of out the back

thanks all. Lots of good advice. I did the tank lift ,floorboard extenders, low profile extended break pedal , highway pegs , new wind shield , khrome werks 2+2 sweepers bars , new grips , and tall boy seat , moved tour pack back2 inchs
now just have to think about comfort lift kit and new shocks

Not sure what EPA restrictions in Florida. CA are catalytic converters. I replaced the exhaust with V&H 4.5 pipes. Re tuned the Stage one TTS tuner, I can almost put my hands on the pipes. MPG went down but heat issues are gone.
