Default Buffeting on 2007 Heritage

I typically run my bike pretty stripped down, but just installed a set of fangs (wind deflectors) on my 2007 heritage in preparation for my yellowstone trip. Without the deflectors the buffeting was so bad from just the windshield that I couldn't handle 30 miles of it. I did 200 miles yesterday with the fangs and while it was much much better I'm still getting more helmet shake than I would like.

I am also running a Mustang wide vintage touring seat which sits me pretty up right and makes it so that the top of the stock windshield is about level with my chin, maybe a hair lower.

My question, would a recurve from Long Ride Shields help solve this? I'd rather put a $100 windshield on than have 2000 miles of head shake?

When riding yesterday, if i really slouched and got the top of my helmet more level with the top of the shield it seem to completely eliminate the buffeting, but it's hard for me to tell if that buffeting is coming over the top of the shield or from around the fangs.

Any input would be appreciated!

Edit: I leave for my trip on Friday, so I probably need to get a shield ordered today to make sure it gets here in time.

Yes as long as it's tall enough.

That's what I was thinking. I'm going to try and place the order today. I'm checking with them to see if they will be able to get it to me by Friday.

Thanks for the input!

Doesn't sound like I'm going to get it by Friday so I'll probably hold off on ordering it. Does anyone know of a retailer that sells them that I would be able to get 2 or 3 day shipping from? When I talked to LRS they sent me to choppers cycles who said they would have to order it from LRS anyways.

Next best bet is, find a stock(tall) one locally & just run
that. I have one. If you were here local, I'd just let you use it.

That's what what I'd do though.
I hate lookin thru em, but it's better than getting your helmet & sunglasses
torn off your head for a few thousand miles.

I tried looking on craigslist but couldn't find anything close by. I'm gonna try running my bell 500 helmet tonight and see if the buffeting is any better with that one than with my shark.

I knew I should have gotten this bike ready for the trip last week but ran out of time. I thought for sure with the the fangs and windshield mounted up I would be good.

Default Helmets

On my melon some helmets amplify buffeting and head shake considerably. On my Heritage the oem windshield was quite effective but sitting up.just a little higher I could see how a taller rider would be taking a wind beating so I'm sure you'd be fine with a recurve or slightly taller recurve. It ain't bad without the windshield either,, if you can get a good earplug for wind noise management.
