Default PTT Switch Move

Last Saturday, while at my local HD dealership, a friend of mine told me that HD has released a software update that allows the PTT button function to be swapped with the cruise control button. FINALLY! The dealer has to do the software update then use their machine they hook up to remap what button does what. My friend has a '17 CVO and had his done with zero issues. I tried to have mine done but they ran into issues and there were no radio guys available at HD Tech on Saturdays. It is my understanding that this is for all '14 and later Rushmores with a CB.

How much does the swap cost ? Or since hourly rates may vary, how many hours were billed for the swap ? I'd like to think this is all performed via the USB connection ............... if not, how much disassembly (fairing, switch covers, etc) is needed ?

Also curious whether the actual 'buttons' can be swapped, too ? (I'm guessing not, and I realize its not that important, but thought I'd ask)

They didn't charge for the software update, but they charge 1/2 hour of labor for the button reprogramming.

They didn't change the physical buttons, just remapped in the software what each button does. So no need to get into the fairing or switch packs.

Where/how does the "reprogramming machine" connect to the bike ? Same USB as BOOM updates ? Some other 'port' ? Under tank ? Under seat ? Bluetooth ? The less surgery the better.

Unsure, they didn't let me watch, lol. However, when the HD Tech remotely connected to my bike, he first went and looked at my ECM to see if I had ever tuned the bike! So I imagine the programming and software update was not on the boom part.

Sounds like something they'd use that digital technician device to hook into the ECM, probably not unlike having them change the configuration so the driving/passing lights stay on when you hit your brights. Shouldn't have anything to do with the Boom Audio system.

If they use digital tech, it's under the left side cover

Explains why the tender pigtail was put back under the cover when I previously had it out. LOL

Interesting - wonder why they didn't make the 18s that way.

Also, would be nice if they removed the squelch from that. If I recall, on my 11, my cruise was on right and the CD was where the odometer changer is.

This would prevent us from hitting squelch when we hit the CB
