Default Old Seat.... New Seat....

After searching fleabay for a few months I found a Mustang seat to replace the Lapera that came with it when I bought the bike last December... The seat is in excellent condition and I think it looks a hell of a lot better... The ride is also a huge improvement... The Lepera seat was like a hard pan... I'm slowly getting it to where I want the bike to be... Next up is new shocks and bushing for the rear suspension. I would also like to find the original length of the front tubes and replace what I have along with new springs and seals.... The PO lowered the bike and I would like to return it to stock ride height. I'm very pleased with the way it runs, I replaced the ignition with the Screaming Eagle ignition I took out of my Evo.... Loving it, Man... So here's the pics showing the difference...

I like the bar and shield on the heads, cool.
Since the swingarm is chrome maybe a P.O. flipped the blocks???!!! That will lower it at least an inch.

Yeah thanks T, I like that Shield on the rocker covers to, different... Not looking to lower the bike any. I'm going to just return to stock running height, it scrapes big-time on the least amount of cornering...
You guys ever get that rear wheel death wobble cornering at like 70 mph with your Superglides? Mine is worse than my Evo...

curious - what do you have in the frame where the seat is bolted? I mean the rear above the battery/oil tank. My frame has a tube going from side to side with nothing in it.

A friend of mine took them off of his stock 2011 Street Glide. It's a perfect height for my shoulders and comfort level. I like the width of them kind of square looking but I think they go well....

The Mustang seat is a one piece so there is no need to secure it like I would a solo seat. There's a bolt on the fender that takes care of mounting also it has the 2 steel fingers for the front.

If mounting a solo seat, the cross member by all the circuit breakers is hollow. What you do is get those rubber mounted bushings that go into the tube with brass threaded inserts that when tightening them makes them expand in the cross member to lock them in.... the ears would come off the rear seat and you just bolt them right into that. That's what I did with my lepera seat which by the way is for sale if any one is interested, including the rear suction cup pillion... if interested pm me with an offer

This is the only issue, tiny tear in the rear of the seat...

....

can you show me what those bushings look like or maybe post a link to something? I have a 2 piece mustang I'd like to leave the back off of.

Sure sure I'll be going out to the shop in a couple hours I'll see if I can dig them up..

Here ya go....

These fit inside the cross member then all you you need is a bolt and as you tighten it down it creates a compression fit...

The wobble could be the swing arm bushings. My '80 would do the dance with the batwing on. Take the bat off and no wiggle. First I installed Timken bearings in the tree. It didn't help the wiggle. Sure helped the steering feel though. I finally figured out the front wiggle was coming from the back.
