Screwy Louie Newbie

Hello Everyone! I'm just a new Kid, still wet behind the ears. The first time I saw a Harley, I was 5 years old, A Blue and White Panhead...dressed to the 9's...Windshield, Leather Bags with Fringe, Fishtails, and the Dude riding had a black leather aviators cap...ONE COOL DUDE! I knew what I wanted to be when I growed up. That DUDE! that was 55 years ago. And many Harleys since, from an 80cu. in. Flathead. a Knucklehead, a Panhead, 3 XLCH Sportsters, a Superglide, a Blockhead, and now a 2012 Heritage Classic Leather Bagger, with the optional radio delete. But being one of those Newfangled contraptions with all the 'puter stuff on it, it's gonna take every Scientist in America to straighten it out. It's not as simple as turning a screw to adjust the idle, and how do I get rid of that gawd awful exhaust pop whenever I downshift? And I always thought a TUNER was My Buddy down the street who's 'Lectra Glide had Nitrous on it and never ever had a decent rear tire with tread on it. So I'm here looking for all the help I can get, cause I'm just a newbie.
