Has anyone found something better and less expensive as the WHIM to enable Bluetooth on the '18 Road Glide?

Welcome to the Forum.

Not really. The Freewire might save you $50 and works with several headsets if you already have one. Hard to do better than the WHIM and HD branded 20S if you don't already have headsets.

The main question is whether or not you currently have Bluetooth headsets, and what capabilities it has, and whether or not you ride solo or two-up.

If you don't currently have a Bluetooth headset, and you ride two-up, the WHIM and two Harley Bluetooth headsets will run you around $1,000 for your '18. Requires reflashing the Infotainment system to work with the WhIM. $750 if you ride solo. You'll have stereo and high-def audio.

If you currently have non-Harley Bluetooth headsets, then adding a WHIM will run around $400+, and you won't have stereo.

If you have a Bluetooth headset, and ride solo, you can add a Freewire for around $250, and you'll have stereo. $500 if you ride double, and you'll have stereo. If you can open the fairing you can install it yourself. Does NOT require reflashing the Infotainment system.

I don't think the volume is very good on the Harley 20s at highway speeds. It is loud turned up in the driveway, is OK about 55, but above that it starts to wash out. I am wearing a HD (HJC) modular.

You can also handlebar mount that Freewire too and you don't have to go open up the fairing.

Correct! Or put it in one of the fairing cubbyholes.
