Default 100K Makeover (Belt or Chain)

So I posted recently about my 100,000. mile makeover on my 07 RG, I'm installing S&S T-111-Baker 7 speed-Heavy duty clutch-Baker compensator sprocket-Stater-Heavy duty starter and a Thunder max tuner. Last question "Drive belt or chain"?I need to replace the front and rear final drive sprocket along with the belt, Mind you I have 100k on this bike and the OEM belt is surprisingly in decent shape, but I would never consider leaving it at this point. My boys are telling me go chain, it will hold up better with the added HP and Torque, I'm not sold considering they need to be replaced around 20k (so I'm told). I'm still leaning toward the drag specialties heavy duty belt. Anyone have personal experience with final drive chain?

Unless I was going to build a drag or race machine you couldn't pay me to use a chain again. You have any idea how many chains & sprocket sets you'd have go through to get 100K ? 10 to 12 would be a fair guess.

That point made there is enough to convince me to stay belt drive. It really seems like you like to ride your bike. True meaning of tour bike with those kind of miles. The really only reason IMO to go chain is for race applications.

got an 04 with a built 107, over 180K, original belt. keep meaning to change, its not giving problems so i am leaving alone.

12 CVO Roadglide, with a built 120R, over 140 Tq, still got factory belt, over 20K since build.

belt will hold up, unless you are doing something stupid.

Been doing shovelheads for 40 plus years both as my daily and working on them on the side, had my share of chain issues then some.

I have an S&S 107" with belt drive and a Baker DD6, which has similar performance to your 111". Chains are just so last century - fit new pulleys and chain and take back control of your boys!

You had good luck with your belt on stock motor...now you're building your motor...

I went chain after my build...it's a little messy...but I'm not afraid of twisting the wick either...

Sometimes you should listen to your buds...

Do any of your buds run a comp delete/direct drive...?

Go back with the FACTORY HARLEY Belt & Pulleys, not aftermarket,,,

IIRC the '07 SG had the "tall gearing" since you are replacing everything you might look into later model ("shorter" final drive) gearing??

No issues on the '09 117/DD7 for 61k (40k on Build) so far...

I know guys putting 170+ to the tire, no issues running stock Harley Belts, my favorite Indy has done at least a half a dozen 143s all on stock Belts, no issues...
124HC / DD7, 115k miles on original Belt...

No way I'd go chain on a Harley street Bike...

A new stock HD belt, a31 tooth Baker pulley and send the rear wheel pulley to Supermax or get a new stocker. Good luck
