buddy seat top clevis pin-problems getting it to work
I got a clevis pin and spring J&P Cycles pt# 820-014. to hold my buddy seat onto the seat post. I cant figure out how to get the spring to hold the pin in. I took it to the local Harley dealer and spent about half hour watching 4 of their top mechanics not figure it out either. Has anyone got a picture of what it looks like fastened the right way? This is for my 1976 FLH Shovelhead. Is there more than the pin and spring that holds the pin in place? Maybe a clip or something. Thanks H3

The seat bolts to the T-bar at three points. Notice there is a pivot on the top of the seat post (in this picture the pivot is pointed towards the front of the bike). The pin goes through the holes in the T-bar and the pivot. The clip goes in the notch in the pin, and snaps around the seat post.

Yes I see your post and the seat bar and where it connects and that's easy to see. My problem is how the spring connects to the pin that holds them together. This spring isn't wide enough to go around or clip to the seat post. I tried it two different
ways, look at my pics. Neither is right as far as I can tell. Can you put your pin and spring in your seat post so i CAN SEE THE RIGHT WAY. That would be a great help. Thanks H3

I think with the try the oem or nos parts. This is the second pin and spring i bought and both looked the same, they were aftermarket. I would think I could just use a clevis pin but I am trying to put this thing back togeter stock. Someone out there will have a picture showing me why the ones they sell wont work o n my boke. Thanks, H3
