Rip Off 1k mile service from a Harley Dealership
Wanted to start a rant about a local Harley Davidson Dealership charging $585 for a 1000 mile service on a 2018 Fatbob 114. Is this price Normal? I think it’s a rip off. Asking others to post their delarship’s prices on this thread. I’ve got a story about my experience but want to make sure I am posting in the right place.

Yeah, their website (El Cajon Harley) states they will match any shop’s price on service or parts install but refused when I asked them if they could match San Diego Harley Davidson’s price of $350. Wish I could send a complaint to Harley Davidson that this certain dealership is pulling bait and switches.

So here’s my story/rant. El Cajon Harley is less than 3 miles from my home. I looked on their website and have used their price matching advertisement in the past on my last 3 bikes. I called cycle visions in San Diego and was quoted $355 on a 1k mile service. The dealership quoted me $585. I asked for a price match and they refused. They said that since it wasn’t a Harley Davidson shop, they didn’t believe they perform the same service. I negotiated a $400 service. They told me if I found a local Harley Davidson dealer, then they would match. So I left the bike there for service. While in my Uber on my way home, I called San Diego Harley. They quote me $385 for the service but dropped it to $350 since I had a hog membership. I called El Cajon to stop the work, they said no and that I had already agreed to $400. I told them I found a Harley Dealership that would charge $350, the dealer tells me tough ****, I’m stuck paying $400 and refused to match. I hate feeling ripped off when they obviously had it advertised that they would price match
Thanks, I didn’t know they offered a pick up and drop off. I’m gonna start doing my own service. I just need to get a service manual and watch some YouTube videos. Kind of worried about the clutch adjustment.

The time to ask the cost is BEFORE you schedule a service for anything.
You should be doing a rant against yourself.
My dealer does the 1K gratis. They have done that since 1947. Then from the 5K on I do them all myself. I kept the cost under $50 for fluids and materials needed.

Wow. That is a REALLY easy service to do it yourself, will cost you maybe $ 80 in parts/oil. Not hard at all. The best defense against high-priced dealer service departments is to do it in your own garage. The only time my bikes see a dealer bay is for warranty work, they're not particularly difficult to work on,
