Default Vibration

I just got my 17 883 Iron two weeks ago. I've got 725 miles on it. It's my 3rd Harley. I also have an 06 Super Glide and an 09 Heritage trike.

The day I bought the Iron, I rode it 250 miles to Jacksonville to visit friends. About halfway there, I noticed that it has a significant vibration between 2800 and 3400 rpm, no matter what gear. It's to the point that riding between around 55 and 65 is a nuisance. At a bit above 80, it also shakes pretty good.

This is the first Sporty I've ever ridden, but I've got a few miles on both my Twin Cams. Is this normal?

Having owned a 2017 Iron myself, I'd have to say it was a pretty miserable ride at 60+mph.

Having also owned 2 750cc BMW's and a 650cc single BMW, I'd have to say that HD doesn't spend any time or money on developing ride quality. They sell an image, not a competitive motorcycle.

I now own a 2015 XL1200T with much better ride quality, but only in comparison to the 883.

It has 725 miles on it and is not yet run in, which in my modest experience will take a while. Do that mileage every week for a while and all being well it will be much improved soon! My 883L is fine and used routinely up to 80-90mph now it's run in.

The motor on my 1200 has a mild resonance at ~58 to 62 mph. It used to be way more noticeable when the bike hardly had any miles on it. It has close to 10k on it now, and I hardly notice it anymore.

If it's normal, I'm ok with that. I'll adjust. Just was curious, since it's my first Sporty

My 04 883 is damn smooth. I can ride at 100 mph all day long. Guess I got lucky. It let's me know how much my wide glide shakes.
