Default Lowering front forks

Looking at two options to lower my front forks. Progressive has a spring replacement kit and Arlen Ness has shorter fork dampers that you retain the factory springs. Both claim to do the same thing only different methods. Any insight or experience would be appreciated. Thanks

The mono tubes get so-so reviews. I have them.

I would recommend saving up for better choices.

I went the 500.00 progressive mono tubes dropped an inch. Worth every penny. Those drop in kits, I had one in my 08. It maintained the lousy ride the stock front-end has. And the limited low. Is that HD drop kit. It's nothing special. If ya don't ride a lot or far the cheaper versions will do the job just fine.

I have the Arlen Ness lowering dampers. Theoretically, you can keep the stock ride with them by using the stock springs, however you will bottom too easy and damage the fender unless you put spacers on top of them and run higher oil levels. I used the springs I had from the H-D 1" lowering kit along with about 3/8" of spacer and the oil level raised a couple inches or so higher than the stock specs to keep the fender from hitting anything. Definitely stiffer ride, but I know no other way to get a 1 1/2" lowered front with the stock fender and driving light crossbar that wont destroy the fender.

Say, what does it measure out to be from ground to the bottom of the driving light bar?

I used the Progressive lowering kit (not the more $$ monotube version) when I did my 21. It rides better than the stock front end and no complaints here on price versus result.

Same here. I used the Progressive kit and I'm very happy with it. Lowered the front 1 1/2. Big improvement!
