Default Basic Audio Upgrade for an Audio Newbie

First things first...as the title states, I can manage most things mechanical but audio is definitely not one of them. A little lengthy post but need some help.

Bike is a 2012 Ultra Classic with stock audio now. Not looking to break the bank but would like to get some better sound out of the stock HK head unit. Yes, the CB option is important to me so the stock HK stays. Can't see myself ever needing/wanting more...I've done a bit of reading & research and think I've come up with a decent basic upgrade for my needs.

For the amp, I have a line on a Soundstream PN4.1000D but unsure of speakers. Seems either Kappa 62.11i or Polk MM6502. I see the Polk speakers are marine rated but can't seem to find if the Kappa's are or not? Is this something I should be concerned about...is the marine rating important? I'm assuming when replacing the speakers, I'd go with the same 6.5" front & rear...meaning adapters for all 4 speakers (is there room for the adapters in the rear pods?).

Here's my other questions...

I want to add Bluetooth so I'll also be ordering the Metra BT-HD01. I've used the little Bluetooth receiver plugged into the aux port for a few years and although it works pretty good, I want something more permanent, that I can control from the stock switch gear and not have to charge. Here's my question re this...is there room behind the fairing to install both the Soundstream PN4.1000D amp & the Metra Bluetooth unit? Will I need something else or do some modifying?

The lighting of the HK unit is bad. Thinking I will be sending it off to Iron Cross for a checkover and Backlight conversion. As I said, I don't really understand audio so when it's there, do I need any other mods to it to add the amp? I see they offer a number of mods...Preamp Output - Front, Preamp Output - Front/Rear, Rear Mount Aux??

Anything else I will need?

Thanks!

One thing I do know is I could not find where the kappas were marine rated and I think that's important seeing every time I take a trip I get caught in the rain

I don't believe the Kappas are marine rated. I do believe the Polk Audio MM652s are marine rated. The Kappas are 2ohm and iirc the Polks are 4ohm. Hope that helps you out

I'd like to keep it in the $500 - $600 range (plus the Metra Bluetooth of course). Keep in mind I'm in Ontario (Canada) and we get screwed over on pricing for everything.

Again, speaking stuff here I don't understand and I'm gonna need your help. Is one better than the other...2ohm vs 4ohm? Will the Soundstream PN4.1000D amp work with either?

OK thanks! So then should I be looking for 2 or 4 ohm...is one better than the other, or one have an advantage over the other? Also then, should all 4 speakers (front & rear) be the same?

I would look for 4 ohm speakers. But if you already have 2 ohm you can still use them. Yes you can run 2 ohm and 4 ohm on the same amp, the 2 ohm speakers hook up one speaker per channel, no parallel wiring. Since you are new we won't confuse you to much.
