Hi all -
Since the M8 is relatively new and subject to warranty demands, I was wondering if you all would be so kind as to list out what you have done to achieve a bike with 100 hp (at rear wheel) and 100 ft lbs of tq. I am not prepared to go there myself yet as I do not want to lose my warranty, but would definitely like to get there in a year or two.

So tell us: what upgrades did you use to get to the 100/100 club as I call it?

Most dynos show stock 107 M8 torque at 100, give or take a couple, HP around 80. Seems like guys dropping in a cam and tune bump it up to, or over 100 hp.

 

Mine is 100 hp, 120 torque (according to the Harley specs for Stage II).
Started with a 114ci M8 with the Ventilator air cleaner.
Added S&S Grand National slip-ons, and the SE-447 "Torque" cam kit.
Used the SEPST stock download, and will follow it up with SmartTune sessions.

Warranty-friendly, 50-street-legal, EPA-compliant, and 100/120. Total cost ~$1500.

 

According to Harley's "Stage Upgrades" charts for the Softail 107, yes stock torque is in excess of 100, about 102 or so at 3000 RPM. Horsepower is way down though. You'd have to go to Stage II with the HP cam to hit 100 HP, or go Stage III or Stage IV.
The charts are slightly different for the Touring 107. On that, you don't even reach 100hp even with the Stage II HP cam. It looks like it peaks out at 98 or so. You'd need Stage III or Stage IV to get over 100hp on a Touring 107, using all Harley parts. Although I'm sure you could probably use a non-EPA-compliant tuner like the PV or TTS and push that Stage II HP cam over 100hp with a talented tuner.

 

Just about all the stage 2 aftermarkets get you over that my 107 115tq 105 hp cam pipes tuner a/c. Done

 

Ended up with 114.5 hsp 121 torque, would post a pic of the Dyno sheet but well pretty much computer illiterate. Put d@d 2 into 1 exhaust with header pipe, tts tuner, tman 216 cam, s and s lifters and screaming eagle high flow breather on a 17 cvo street glide. Was very happy with the results about 5000 miles on cam and exhaust no problems so far

 

A lot is going to depend on which engine size your starting with. The Stock cat in the headpipe starts showing restriction at about 90 Hp to the rear wheel. Many of the HD charts include replacing the exhaust to the SE high Flow in there dyno charts so be careful when you go to refer to them for a Stage II or above. To get to 100/100 isn't all that hard but you must first decide if you want to keep your warranty or not. If you do them your stuck with HD parts and it's going to take a Stage III or higher kit. Now, if your willing to put your warranty at risk, adding a well designed aftermarket exhaust and a cam will get you there no problem.

 

I just added a complete Fullsac exhaust system and a dyno tune.

Started with a 18 CVO Road Glide. Its 103 HP and 129 torque after the above exhaust and tune.

 

None of the 2018 M8 charts for the Softails show any change to the exhaust other than using Street Cannon slip-ons. Perhaps you were thinking of air cleaners? Lots of the charts reference high-flow air cleaners, but none of the Softail charts show the SE High Flow exhaust.

For the Touring 107 and the CVO 117 charts, they only changed to the High Flow Exhaust for the Stage IV. For all the Stage I, II, and III builds, they list Street Cannons.

Summation: according to Harley's charts, the SE High Flow Exhaust is only used for the Touring bikes (regular and CVO) in Stage IV. All the Softail charts, and all the Touring Stage I, II, and III, are using Street Cannons.

 

Steve - you know your expertise is always appreciated! Probably going to stick with warranty for now until they hopefully get this transmission to primary thing worked out, which I know you are all too familiar with. Really prefer to use aftermarket parts over HD ones truth be told.
