Yes I have bought a couple of new Harleys. Also a couple of slightly used coulpe of year old Harleys.
But in the last couple of months I have pick up a couple of Harleys cheep. 1st one was an 0 Nightster. 2200 miles for 3 k . Spent a little tlc and new tires. . This bike was 10 k new.
2 nd bike 03 Heritage Softail anniversary 6500 miles 4k been sitting rode it home a lot of TLC. But looks great now. Putting on a set new whitewalls. This bike was 18 k new. I forgot how smooth the 5 speed Softails were.
Sure does bring the cost of owning a Harley down .

09 Nightster and 03 Heritage

Lotsa low-mileage bikes out there, including Harleys, just have to find them. Practically stole this 2013 Heritage with 692 miles on it a few years ago, since traded for my Road King:

Yup.... If your primary concern isn't having the latest and greatest there's tons of great low mileage bikes to be had. Kinda blows that whole Harleys are to expensive for the common man myth out of the water. Bought my first harley when I was 19. So the Harleys are only for old guys argument holds no water in my eyes either.

Given what I know about the bikes Ive traded in, I will only buy new.

My new strategy is to trade every two years, no mods that cant be easily removed. The M8 is powerful enough now, I dont even need a stage 1, slip ons are fine.

Roll 'em all off the floor and they are all "used". I like your thinking. There's a lot of garage queens just waiting for someone to ride them. I've bought plenty of new and used alike. Find the right one, and it's no less reliable than a new one. You save thousands.

If you dont need or want the latest whizz-bangs, let someone else eat the depreciation. I bought both mine as well used, its still a Harley and still runs and rides great. I still get compliments on its condition from owners of new(er) bikes even though mine is now 18 years old.
