Default Speaker wire size

Does the size of speaker wire matter? I’m only running speakers in the fairing using the stock wires. Being a short run from the amp to the speakers, would it be worth the time to repin the connectors and use bigger wire?

I’ve installed Polk audio mm652 and the b52 amp.

Whatever heavy gauge wire you decide to run the trace on the speaker output of the amp's circuit board will have much less current carrying capacity than the speaker wire connected to it. Any speaker wire around 18 gauge will more than suffice for your application.

Do you want your stereo to make your loose license plate rattle at stop lights?

The mm652 came with speaker wire that’s bigger than the stock wire. I wasn’t sure if repinning the connector and running the Polk audio speaker wire was worth the time

Hell, 8 awg is WAY overkill. You're only running about 2 feet of wire to each speaker.

Yes, but if you run really BIG it allows more sound to come through quicker :>)
