Default Fueling oil pump installed and ride report

My 2017 Street glide has started sumping with such frequency, it has become somewhat of a joke to ride, as I could count on having it sump just about every time I rode it. I, like many of us, have given Harley a shot with their revised oil pumps to NO avail. I had recently inquired with Fueling to find out of their pump was the FIX or not. To my disappointment, they would not guarantee that it would fix my issues...I bit the bullet anyway, and installed it a week ago.

Fueling suggests that you check crank runout. The would like to see .003, but will warranty their pump to .0045 runout. Mine was .007....I decided to install it anyway.

There has been some suggestions that the the breather valves in the rocker boxes could be contributing to or the reason for the sumping. I checked them out by trying to blow through the ports in the airbox, and mine were certainly an issue. With suggestions from a couple of sources, I made a breather set up with a one way valve on one port, and the other going to the vacuum port on the throttle body. I will later rework it with a catch can, as I don't want oil mist in the combustion chamber.

I am happy to report that everything seems good. I rode 90 miles in 90+ degree heat, cruising at 80 mph, and making many pulls through the gears to speeds of up to 120 MPH and 6000+rpm

I will update as I put more miles on this combo, as I am honestly skeptical that its fixed.

My combo is as follows:
Suburban 120 ci, 11:1 compression
Woods 999 cam
Fan on oil cooler
Geared primary

Compression and leakdown was checked on oil pump install
Compression F 215 PSI (compression release still plugged in)
Compression R 220 PSI (compression release still plugged in)

Leakdown was 4% on both F and R

Tony

I reused the original tensioner shoe. It currently has 6500+ miles on it, and showed no appreciable signs of wear.

What’s a geared primary? Did you just change transmission sprockets? Different clutch basket? Or compensator?

I replaced the compensator sprocket. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Did fueling have their own install instructions or did you use the Factory Service Manual?

I made a breather set up with a one way valve on one port, and the other going to the vacuum port on the throttle body. I did drill into the backing plate to accomplish this. The one way valve is orientated to release pressure, but not to introduce any vacuum. In theory, the valve will always be closed due to the vacuum from the throttle body.

I’m assuming both these mods were done at the same time as opposed to independently? How many miles since modifications without any dumping? Thank you.
