I like the look of them both, but I reckon the Danny Gray has a little more padding in the rear than the La Pera.

Yes....it's also a touch wider in front. I love the narrowness of the La Pera.

Both are about $270
La Pera is MUCH heavier than DG....don't know what that means but makes me wonder about quality.
Both are great seats.

What does your butt have to say on the matter?

Well.....that's the 'rub' . The problem with choosing a seat is that if you hope to return an unsatisfactory seat, you are not allowed to mount it....much less ride with it. I admit, I have violated that rule but you can't ride with a seat long enough to gauge the long term impact on your butt. I would call it a tie at this point, but I wonder if long term, the gel in the La Pera may be an advantage.

Problem: I want to maintain/enhance the looks of the bike which means that a seat that is minimalistic will look better but will be less comfortable on long trips. I have an air seat so that really shouldn't be an issue, except that this type seats can get uncomfortable VERY fast.

Yeah, the eternal struggle...

"Sacrifice comfort for style and speed"

I thought the Barebones was only good for about an hour and I was constantly sliding off the back. Forward controls didn't help that matter.

I've no experience with the DG.

Thx for that. So what seat do you ride on currently?

Erm...custom.

I went from the Barebones to a Redtail Leather "12" front bend" solo with custom mounts and now I'm getting ready mount a full custom solo. Rocket Bob's formed the pan for me.

The Redtail was leaps and bounds better than the Barebones but I was never really in love with how it flowed with the lines of the bike. I'm hoping the new one will tick all the boxes.

I like the look of the first one better, but that's my taste. Color better matches and the lines look more complete and better fit the Bob IMHO.

Though I don't like the matting under it that's sticking out, unless that was just something you put down for protection?

Matting? No, there's nothing under either seat. Sorry, I'm not seeing what you are seeing.

Edit....oh, I think I see....what I THINK you are seeing is the underneath of the seat (felt). Thats a result of it not being cinched down in place. Both have a label at the back, but that's not a big deal.
