Default Time For New Lifters

I've got 48K on the Ultra and the tech said I'm living on borrowed time with my stock lifters. Should I go with HD Screamin' Eagle, S&S or something else? What's your experience?

I went with the Woods Brothers Directional lifters from Fuel Moto. Did the trick for me! I had one rattling.

S&S standard lifters will do just fine.

EDIT: So will those Hylifts from Larry

I just put screamin eagle lifters in my 03 RKC two weeks ago and it quieted them down. Up here in Canada, we get routinely raped by the cost of such items. $325.00 for SE and S&S were $400.00 and the price kept going up. With labour and tax at the dealership, I dropped half a grand. You guys down south in the US got it made when it comes to parts for Harleys. And before any of you chime in about doing it myself, I know shovelheads and ironheads inside and out, but I'm a tad leery on Twinkies.

It's said that OEM lifters are prone to failure in the 25,000 mile range.

Since I have had this happen to me, I believe it. But there are a huge number of OE lifters with over 100K on them.

It's a crap shoot...

The HD "C" lifters are a known weak spot.... Their predecessors, the "B" lifters, many believe were good lifters. I forget exactly when they changed to the "C" lifters. I may be wrong, but I think you may still have the "B" lifters in a 2007 Twin Cam. Regardless, I'm not sure I'd go through the trouble to change lifters on their own, but I do change them if in the cam chest for any reason...

That said, there have been many lifters named/used over the years. I have never read a bad report on S&S lifters and I know the Johnson Hylift (from WFO Larry) to be good quality lifters...

S&S standards have never let me down. Used them on 3 bikes now.

My 2010 Ultra has 126K miles on it. I bought it with 95K already on it and it was quiet. Now I have lifter noise after the miles I have have put on it. Should I replace cam at the same time OR is that not necessary?
