Default Cross Sound Ferry Question

Headed to Long Island Wednesday, hitting the ferry for Orient Point. Should I bring tie downs for the ferry ride?

I’ve seen lots of bikes in the BC mainland to Van Island ferries. No where to tie down to that I’ve ever seen. These are big ships that don’t move much usually. Just park it in gear.

No you will not need tie downs, just leave it in gear.

They will likely have larger car blocks to place under the right side under frame of the bike.
Place it in gear and bars turned to the left fully and left in gear.
Not sure about the Ships from Long Island, but I bet a buck the web site will inform you of what to do or not do.

Whenever I go from Long Island to CT I see a lot of the guys sitting on their bikes the whole time.

I was just in the that ferry with my sport bike 15 years ago. I think they made us stay with the bikes. They didn’t move much during the trip.

The Long Island sound can get choppy and we have had rain seems like everyday lately, in fact a thunderstorm rolled through last night . I would call the cross sound ferry company or like the above poster said check the web site just to be 100 %.
