Default Road Trip - 2016 FLHTK - 1230 miles

Friday 22 June, I rode from Dumfries, Virginia to Chattanooga, Tennessee. On Saturday, I rode from Chattanooga to Dalton, Georgia, and back to Chattanooga. Sunday 24 June, I rode from Chattanooga back to Dumfries. I put over 1200 miles on my Ultra Limited. She now has 16,469 miles on her. I have a stage one including a SE air cleaner and S&S MK 45 slip ons, with a dealer tune. I ran the Interstates mostly on Cruise Control at 75. I ran miles under that speed and several miles over. Several tanks of gas averaged 45 mpg. And I ran through some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen from the saddle; and for quite a while. I rode I 64 to I 81 to I 40 to I 75 going south, travel time was 10.5 hours. I rode I 75 to I 40 to I 81 to US 60 to US 15 coming north, travel time was 12 hours.

I have absolutely no complaints with this machine. I often marvel at the comments in this forum blasting HD for their lack of customer appreciation and known weaknesses of their product. I am 6'0", 220 lbs, 60 years old. My handle bars were comfortable. My seat was comfortable. My GPS worked as designed. My Boom worked as designed. My bike worked wonderfully. I was buffeted by the wind. I was not over heated by the Catalytic converter. My tires, OEM with now 16k, ran wonderfully in the rain. My motor purred along at 3000 rpms without complaint, and rolled quickly and easily to 90 mph when asked to.

So, what's the point here? Merely that I love my bike. I think it's well crafted, well produced, well functioning, and does exactly what it's supposed to do. It fits me. It suits me. Harley made a good motorcycle and I am very happy with it.

top0211 - sounds like you have some great riding. I have to agree with your comments on the bike - mine makes me smile everyday.

I am putting mine in the shop on Wednesday, currently had 34,300 or so miles on it. Just having everything checked for my summer trips. First is North Carolina, next is Warren, PA and then, we head to Sturgis

My fronts failed at 80K. Had my all four bearings on the rear wheel changed as well. Surprisingly they showed no sign of wear.

Not sure if your bearings are any different given that my bike is a 13.
