Default My new 66 FLH

Picked it up this morning after seeing it in an ad last week. With a lot of help from Johnjzjz identifying key details I pulled the trigger. I love it! Bars and flames gotta go right away while I try to leave the rest alone and figure out what I need to start putting it back closer to original. Gotta see if I can find out its original colour as well.

Congratulations. As far as the flames, I've seen a lot worse

the seat I would buy a solo pogo seat from heathers leathers ( they come in all the original colors Harley offered in that time period ) and a pogo stick from v twin then get the usa spring kit and call is a day

they ride great prefer over any other seat but I only ride older machines

SWEET........... looking genny. Hmmm... a 66 at that.
Your right about getting rid of the apes. Go with oem two pc handlebars with the internal electricals and throttle cable, keeping the S&S E carb. I'm sure John could help you out with running an internal throttle cable for your S&S carb. A friend who lives in central Pa has owned several genny's gets annoyed seeing a genny shovel with clothesline throttle cable.
The genny's have more names then any other HD motor. Genny shovel, generator shovel, flatside shovel, kidney shovel (shape of the right gear cover), and the legendary pan shovel.

Congrat's on your new shovel.

Thank you gentlemen, feel free to pick it apart, I know its a diamond in the rough but it has good bones. Here's a few more shots.

The previous owner replaced the bars, speedo and wheels. Threw the original wheels in the garbage. Might have the bars, has the old speedo and console which Ill be getting along with any other items he may have. I also have hard bags for it complete with matching flames and a chrome guard arrangement for the bags.

I want to know more about the shifter and clutch setup. Clutch releases like a car clutch and you pull back for 1st and push forward to change up

. Are these things correct?

The clutch setup should be a rocker style, IIRC
