Default New head unit install question

I had a credit to use up, so I ordered a Sony 5000 head unit. I guess im a bit fuzzy on what I dont need to use now. I have 2 line levelers and the breakout harness with my current system.

I no longer need LLs with new Sony correct? What about the breakout harness? I have no expierence with anything but stock 6.5 HU. I would still want to fade the TP.

I currently have a JLXD600/6 with AA602s bridged in fairing and Polk652s in TP. My Prv Neos and JL280/4 came today and will be adding them in lowers once i get the parts to make them work. I will be using channels 5/6 on 600/6 for lowers and the new 280/4 to the TP polks.

thanks

Your not going to need the line leveler for sure as the Sony has rca pre outs. It actually has 2 sets so I would think you could ditch the break out harness too. You would just need to use both pre outs to have fade.

Additionally you'll want to run your own speaker wires back to the tp.

I had already did that. My very first setup with different amp/speaks..i used the factory wiring. But currently have all dedicated speaker wires to all 4 speakers. I will just need to wire 2nd amp to battery, etc.

you are going to need one if the install kits that comes with the modules to retain your handlebar controls, Metra/Access, Biketronics and Scoshe all make one, i just used the metra install kit last moth an a Sony install and it worked just fine,,,,i think it was 95-9700.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you planning on mounting your second amp? I already did the Sony, have lids, but would also like to do lowers and have an 8 speaker setup.

As suggested to me, I plan is to mount the JL280/4 vertically on my Bt speaker bracket. Clutch side. I did see pics of someone that had it horizontally in front, tight to back of radio .

You're gonna love that deck and the XD600. Word has it a new firmware (the first update) should add some boss stuff. Even without a dedicated x-over you'll do really well. But I'd consider an x-over down the road to really max it out.

Mike, I'll be in there Friday afternoon. I am gonna hit my old neighborhood first and see how much that has changed. I grew up at 55th and Broadway. Not a great area now.
