Default Best Large City for Motorcycling? - No California

I'm a city guy, but I love to ride. Large cities have great economics, but crappy riding. Small towns have great riding, but crappy economics.

What's the best intersection point of both needs?

Use this chart.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...tistical_areas

Don't go any lower than Tucson in 53rd, and don't use any California cities.

Of the 53 cities, tossing out California, what's the best year-round city* for motorcycling, and why?

*Minneapolis and Buffalo probably aren't going to win this poll.

Thanks for playing.

Do what I do, live and ride in a small town but work in a large city. Best of both worlds.

Personally I'd opt for Knoxville, TN. College town, no state taxes, very affordable housing, and very near the Great Smoky Mountains, *killer* riding right in the area.

Honestly, if no California, I'd have to say Tucson or Las Vegas. Neither city is too big. Wide open once you leave. In close proximity to world-class riding.

If you can put up with wackos, and a limited riding season, Portland, Or. Fantastic riding, that you’ll never run out of ideas. The summers are great but limited to 3 months. But, during that period it never rains. So, you probably get more riding in those three months than most places in the whole year.

Although it seems to be growing too fast for my tastes in the areas of traffic and people, Denver is a good combination of both of your elements. I live in a western suburb of Denver and can be either deep in the mountains or in the center of downtown Denver within 15 minutes of my house. I have to admit I take it for granted but when I feel like going on a ride, I get as much of twisty mountain roads with awesome scenery as I want. And Denver seems to have most, if not all of the comforts of a large city.

Well you get out of cali you've pretty much killed the year round part. I loved Colorado but it's suffering from overgrowth just like anywhere else desirable and the snow could be a royal bitch, anywhere south it's an oven or monsoon season a lot of the year.

Good luck in the hunt.
