Default Dunlop American Elite failure

Pulled this rear off today trying to nail down an increasing vibration. 3rd season, 12,000 miles.

I don't get this ? I've had Avons, Goodyears, Bridgestones and Dunlops on older bikes. But these new Dunlops seem to fail very early and could get you killed. I've run tires down until they were bald in my younger days and never seen this. Are other brands of tires doing this. Had a dunlop fail at 2500 miles on a 12 streeglide.

What's the date code on it? It may have been several years old when you started using it.

Cord separation under the tread will cause it or road damage that gets worse over time.

The Dunlop American Elite bias-ply tire is made out of granite. If you hit it hard enough, it will crack.
