Default Shorter Shifter Lever Experiment

Just an experiment. As a 5’7” rider, it is more comfortable for me to place my foot in a position on the floorboard that meant my toe didn’t reach the shifter peg. So, anytime I wanted to shift, I had to lift my foot, move it forward, shift, and return my foot to its comfortable position. After unsuccessfully searching for a shorter lever, I took an extra lever and drilled/tapped it for another peg. The hole center is 2.5” back from original. I just took it out this evening for a 1-hour test, and am very pleased. I easily upshifted and downshifted without having to move my foot, it was a terrific improvement. I wouldn’t be to afraid to just leave it as it is, other than expecting I’ll have to answer frequent questions of “What the heck is that about?”.

Leave it like that, let people wonder about it. Glad you found a solution for your issue.

Well heck. You've gone this far. Why not cut and grid the end to make it look clean.

If you like the way it looks, leave it, I think it looks pretty cool, missing the shifter will be harder to do now.
