Default tranny swap

Will a tranny from a '99 Road King fit an '04 Road King? I have a chance to pick up a 6spd tranny, gear case and all, and was wondering if it will fit. Any help will be appreciated.

The gear case will have issues. Swing arm pivot hole is only 5/8 and will need to be bored to 3/4. The inner primary bolt pattern is also different..So you'll need to swap the inner primary. You could get away with swapping all the guts and top cover tho I've not done the swap.

Right, so until the OP clarifies exactly what he has, we can`t give him much help, can we?

You have things mixed up a bit there! As mentioned by Dan neither of those years has a stock 6-speed, so please clarify what you are asking or looking at. A later spec stock 6-speed trans will not fit an earlier 5-speed bike, as they won't bolt together. Either of those years can have a retro-fitted 6-speed.

Not sure the guy does tho it would be nice to confirm.. You can get aftermarket 6 speeds for the early tranny cases.
