Blew a 6x9, Time For an Upgrade. Advice needed
I just blew a 6x9 so its time for an upgrade.
2011 Street Glide current bag setup:
2 Pioneer TSD-6902r facing the wheel, mounted toward the front of the bag
They are powered by a JL Audio XD-200/2, bridged (in parallel, too. Not sure why it doesn’t go into protect with the load its seeing) The amp is mounted inside of the right bag, to the rear of the shock hump.
Radio is a Sony MEX-M70BT
I’ve been thrashing these things to within an inch of their life for a few years now, and finally, one gave it up.
I’m very happy with the overall sound Q of the bike but since I have to replace equipment anyway, may as well go bigger, right? I’d like more parking lot low end thump, like the kind a pair of 10’s could provide. Can you recommend a 10” to replace the 6x9’s and an amp to replace the JL? I’m open to using 8” speakers as well. If replacing the amp, it needs to fit into the same space as the XD200/2.
By the way, I ride the hell out of this bike all over the country, so I’m not willing to give up a whole lot more room in the saddlebag.
Fire away please
