Lightbulb Best 14" Mini Ape Bar Options for 2003 Road King with or without a Fairing? What else do I need? Looking at Wild 1s...

Hey all,

I had an old RK before with what I believed to be 12.5" bars that I really liked. The only thing I might have wanted different was have then just a bit higher. Someone once told me they thought the bars that came on my old bike were Wild 1 Chubby bars, and as I'm looking for new bars to replace the seemingly stock bars on my latest bike, they seem to be a contender. Are they great bars? Anything else I should look at? These aren't inexpensive... What else would I need to buy to make something like this work?

Thanks for any help or ideas.

These are the ones I was looking at Wild 1 Chubby 14"
Then they say I need this clamp, would that go under the stock chrome cover that covers my existing bar clamps? Clamp for older baggers
Here's a pic of one of their customer's bikes that happens to be a black 03 RKC Black 03 RKC with 14" Wild 1 Chubby Bars

Here's a pic of my old 03 two tone with what I believe to be 12-12.5" bars, and possibly Wild 1s, but I'm not sure -VS- my newly acquired black 03 RK shown with fairing, which is a work in progress, since I just got it...

Thanks guys, I have someone that's going to help me put them on, but I need to order everything. Outside of the bars, and possibly that clamp they recommend if I get the Wild 1s, what's the best way to go about figuring out what else I need and where's the best place to get the other stuff? Like I'm pretty sure I'm going to need cables, but I'm not sure how long they need to be. Wondering if the wiring for the switches etc would need to be extended. Any thoughts?

You will need clutch cable, brake lines, and wiring extensions.

If it were me, I would get the extensions long enough to accommodate 16" bars. A good number of people always wish they went 2" higher when all is said and done. At least that way it would be easier to put on different bars in the future. jmo

That's a fact Jack. I mean Fred.

OP, WO do make fine bars but offer quite a variety. Have you not looked on their website?

Hey, yeah I shared a link to the bars I was looking at from their site, as well as an example bike with those bars from their gallery. I know they make other bars, but I liked the classic look of the chubby apes, as they seem to be the closest to the bars I liked from my old bike. I've tried looking at other bars as well, but am not familiar with some of the other names or know what else is good, which is why I posted, to see what others thought of the wild one chubby bars, as well as if they had any recommendations of something similar with a good rep and decent price point.

As I'm looking at the cost of the bars, the extra cables and everything, plus some help putting everything on, it's really starting to add up, but I want to be happy with it at the end of the day, so I guess it is what it is...
